Most people do not even know that Chromecast is a small subset of Android TV and with things like gamestreaming it Chromecast really shows the limitation of the concept. Due to the success of Chromecast Googles Chromecast division became the dominating TV force within google and suppressed the AndroidTV division google internally somewhat publicitywise. It sort of was thought as the cheap entry while Android TV was the mid range til high end entry device also with gaming in mind.
Because the Chromecast cannot run any apps, it is more or like (simplified view) a digital projection canvas which receives the signals from a host device (in most cases a mobile phone).Īnd thus if you stream against it it introduces significant lag which makes games unplayable.
